Dear Friends and Members of Joyful Garden Sangha,
After years of practising mindfulness in different venues, we are close to establishing our Sangha Home - a place for all to practise, seek refuge, recharge and to come home to.

In the Words of Our Teacher
It is possible the next Buddha will not take the form of an individual. The next Buddha may take the form of a community. A community practising understanding and loving kindness, a community practising mindful living. It may be the most important thing we can do for the survival of the Earth. - Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh
Home for the Community
Setting up a home for the community has been a dream of the sangha for several years. In line with Plum Village's vision for urban communities of practice, as mentioned by Brother Pháp Dung (Dharma Embrace) in his talk here, this will be a refuge in the city, accessible to all to recharge, find freshness and heal hearts and minds. Also, the community can concentrate our practice in one location and run activities to share the beautiful practice of mindfulness with more people without being constrained by venue availability.
203C Lavender Street
Favourable conditions have enabled us the opportunity to rent a 2500 square feet property on 203 Lavender Street. This used to be the practice centre of Kwan Yin Chan Lin (KYCL), a Zen meditation centre that shares the same lineage as Plum Village. KYCL’s Abbot, Venerable Chi Boon, on hearing our aspirations for a home, is offering the space to us at a very generous discount.

Creating Our Home Together
Renovations, purchase of furniture and practice materials (e.g. mats, cushions) as well as venue rental and on-going operating costs for at least 2 years will require a minimum of SGD $150,000. With the new Home up and running, we wish and intend that the Days of Mindfulness and other practices will continue to be inclusive and accessible to as many people as possible, and activities will continue to run on a contribute-as-you-wish basis. We can achieve this through your generous contribution.
The set up of our home is timely as the Joyful Garden Sangha celebrates our 10th anniversary this year. We thank you for your presence, practice and support over the years.
Let’s create our home together!
In gratitude,
Team Happiness
